Grief Counseling During COVID-19
At Gilchrist, we want you to know that we are here for you. To keep our clients, staff and community as safe as possible, we continue to follow the guidance of our state government and public health experts. To that end, we have canceled or postponed all in-person grief counseling appointments and events at this time. However, we remain here to support you with phone and virtual options.
Virtual Support Options
- We are providing counseling sessions through phone or video.
- We are offering virtual support groups. Visit our Support Groups and Workshop page to register or for more information.
- Steps of Hope, our annual tribute event, will be held virtually on Sunday, June 7, 2020. Registration information.
We understand that not everyone is comfortable with or has access to technology. It’s OK. We are only a phone call away. Call us at 888.823.8880 and we will be happy to explore how we can support you during this time.
Grief Counseling Provides Emotional Support
After a loved one dies, you may feel lost and overwhelmed. At the same time, you may struggle with sadness, intense emotional pain, and even anger. However, grief can begin even before death occurs. For example, you may grieve the loss of the life you knew before your loved one became ill. To help you cope with your feelings of loss, Gilchrist offers one-on-one counseling, grief support groups, workshops and special events.
Grief Counseling and Resources
One-on-one counseling can help guide you through your own unique stages of grief—leading you to a life that is different but still rich in meaning. Our team of counselors are master’s prepared in counseling. They are also recognized by the Association for Death Education and Counseling for competence in bereavement and end-of-life care. Contact a care navigator if you are interested in one-on-one counseling.
Support Groups and Workshops
Gilchrist offers support groups and workshops to help grieving family (including children and friends), as well as anyone in the community grieving a loss. More information about support groups and workshops.
Whether you have lost a spouse, close friend, parent, child or grandparent, we offer a number of events to help you celebrate and grieve for your loved one. View our Events page for more information on remembrance events.
